Wino's out there?
I need some help. Ms. Fan is having a wine and cheese thing at her house next weekend. Since my drink of choice is Miller Lite, uh, yeah. It won't be a snobbish crowd or anything but I'd like to take a bottle of something decent. Any ideas?
I will say, however, that the guests at Little Pissy's couples shower last weekend seemed quite content with the $2.50 a bottle wine from Trader Joe's. ;-)
Here's a tip from another non-drinker. A decent White Zinfandel will always fit in. I know a lot of people who would happily sip the stuff all day and night. Me, I was 151 Rum and Coke or (my fave)JD right from the bottle...yum.... Jack Dan...Um, maybe it's a good thing I gave it up :)
Here's some more info if you want it: http://www.wineintro.com/types/whitezin.html
ANYTHING from J.Lhor is good. They have Chardonay, Cabernet and Merlot. If I remember the merlot is pricey. Blackstone Merlot is nice too. Ravenswood makes a decent wine. Kendall Jackson rocks too. I wouldn't touch White Zin. to save my life. You might as well drink Kool aid IMHO.
I buy whatever is cheapest, I don't know the difference between good and bad anyway. As long as it's a cabernet or a merlot I'm good. Someone once told me if you open a $5 bottle and let it breathe for a while it'll be as good as a more expensive wine. To be on the safe side don't present your bottle until later in the evening after everyone is good and soused, then they'll never know the difference.
since I don't drink any more and the only wine I ever drank was Boones's Farm Wild Mountain..don't think you want my advice on this subject...get something in a purty bottle..
I get thrown out of Ladie's Rooms a lot even tho I belong there.

Ha. Now I wish I had a Trader Joe's :) That's in my price range.

As an Aussie, I'd have to say any Australian wine would be great.
Or you could all come on over to the Barossa Valley instead ....
A California Cabernet around $10 to $15.
Thanks ya'll, you're awesome. Welcome David, I do have a bottle of Yellowtail in the fridge, does that count?
I don't know shit about wine... have yet to find one that I really like.
